In October 2000, God began to birth a vision in the hearts and minds of the people of Trinity Wesleyan Church. They began to look at their community and their congregation and realized there was a need. They realized that they had one of the greatest opportunities of any community in the mid-west. There were thousands of 18-20 somethings surrounding the church and a majority of them were not connected with Jesus Christ in any form. In fact, a majority of them were not interested in “church” as they perceived it.
This problem, this opportunity, began to burn in the hearts of many people at Trinity. These people didn’t just sit back and diagnose the problem; they went to prayer and began planning a solution. Through this time of prayer and planning, they decided to begin a ministry that would focus on this generation. They decided to do what they could, with what they had and see what God would do with what He had.
As a result, 7:11 began — a Thursday night outreach service. This service was culturally relevant and cutting-edge in its approach to worship and communication. Through this service, Trinity saw many of its current young adults begin to connect with the Body. They saw “fringe” Christians begin to grow and develop a greater passion for Jesus Christ. And they saw a generation of believers beginning to see a vision of what Christ could do to see their generation come to know him, to come to the Cross.
