In May of 2004, after much prayer, fasting and discussion, the Crux Lead Team made the decision to become a church plant. At that time, Pastor Daron and Pastor Jason wrote the Crux “Declaration of Independence.” It follows:
“When in the course of human and divine events it becomes evident that God is instigating a new movement of His Spirit the only action deemed appropriate is obedience. To this end we, The Crux, hold these Truths to be self-evident. That the mission of God’s Body, the church, is to Awaken the World to the righteousness of Jesus Christ. The Word of God declares Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, Ministry and Evangelism as the means by which this mission is accomplished.
We as a separate independent Wesleyan Church pledge ourselves to fulfill these purposes by these core values: Expanding The Faith, Exploring The Truth, Expressing The Hope, Experiencing The Love.
We therefore, the representatives of The Crux in general community, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the integrity of our intentions, do hereby declare that we are a free and independent Wesleyan Church the 2nd day of May, two-thousand and four. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the power and protection of God’s Holy Spirit, we mutually pledge to each other our Faith, our Hope, our Love, our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
